Approach

I draw on several approaches depending your needs and situation. These include person-centred counselling, cognitive-behaviour therapy, solution focussed therapy, and 12-step facilitation therapy. I believe that no single approach to psychotherapy is universally superior; different approaches are helpful to different people and for different circumstances. However, most important for the success of therapy is the relationship between the therapist and the client.

I am experienced in working in in-person, by telephone and by Skype.

Experience

I was previously an independent counsellor in private practice in Fontainebleau, France and in Sydney, Australia, working with adults and young people for a wide variety of personal, relationship and work-related issues.

Prior to that, I was a counsellor at ‘The Priory’ in England – a major private psychiatric hospital and part of Europe’s leading independent provider of acute mental health services. During this time I worked with clients with addictions (alcohol, drugs, behavioural), behavioural issues, depression, family problems and other relationship and mental health issues. I have several years’ experience in working with people recovering from alcoholism and addiction in 12-step fellowships and so I am happy to work with this framework as an approach to recovery.
